Delete your account
Applies to the Gritfile app on iOS and Android
You can permanently delete your Gritfile account and everything stored with it at any time. There are two ways to do it.
1. In the app (instant)
- Open Gritfile and go to the Profile tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm with Delete.
Your account is deleted immediately and you are signed out. This cannot be undone.
2. By email (if you can't sign in)
Send an email to hello@gritfile.com with the subject "Delete my Gritfile account", from the email address your account was created with. We verify the request against that address and delete the account within 30 days, and confirm by reply once it's done.
What gets deleted
- Your account and login credentials.
- Every journal entry, tag, and severity rating.
- All AI analyses, weekly reports, and idea deep-dives.
- Saved ideas and your AI usage / credit balance.
- Reminder settings stored on the device.
What is kept, and why
- Purchase records held by Apple, Google Play, and our payments partner RevenueCat are retained as required for tax, refund, and fraud-prevention purposes. They are not linked back to a Gritfile account once it's deleted.
- Anonymous crash reports already sent to our crash-monitoring provider (Sentry) contain no account or journal data and are retained for up to 90 days.
Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription — the stores manage billing, not us. Cancel it first in your device's subscription settings (iOS: Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions; Android: Play Store → Payments & subscriptions), otherwise it may renew.
